Zimbra Collobration Suite is the the new email system for MSAD75.

Weclome to Zimbra!

We have launched the LIVE Zimbra server (replacement for Groupwise).

To log into to the server, go to: webmail.link75.org

Timeline:

Groupwise EOL (End of Life): October 3, 2008 - if you are missing any of your Groupwise messages, please email helpdesk@link75.org requesting that they be transferred over again!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

How can I learn more about Zimbra?

The quickest and best source of information on Zimbra's features is the "Help" link located on the top right-hand corner of the screen. Or, you can click on the following link:

http://webmail.link75.org/zimbra/help/en_US/advanced/Zimbra_User_Help.htm

Additionally, simply "google" Zimbra and the task you're most interested in and you will likely find a response.

You may also download the Zimbra Quick Start Guide.

Why are my file attachments being removed from the messages that I send?

The current version of Zimbra that we are using seems to have trouble with holding on to attachments in emails composed in Zimbra in a Safari 3.0.4 on the MLTI laptops.

There are two different workarounds to this issue:

(A) In your Zimbra preferences for Composing emails, you can tell Zimbra to "Always compose in new window".  This window will accept attachments and hold on to them when you send the message and/or save a draft of the message.

(B) You can use the Firefox browser for accessing Zimbra.  Firefox does not seem to exhibit this issue.

Can I still see if a person has "read" my email?

Currently this feature is NOT available, however the developers of Zimbra indicate that it will be available in the next release (mid school year).

Why can't I access Zimbra from my MLTI laptop?

A number of staff have reported that they can't access Zimbra from their MLTI laptop after it was picked up from reimaging. It appears the old Internet address for the Groupwise server is still "cached" on the local machine. You need to clear the cache on the laptop in order for the computer to get the correct, current Internet address for the Zimbra server. To do this:

Safari: Safari menu --> Clear Cache...

Firefox: Firefox menu --> Preferences --> Advanced tab --> Network tab --> Clear Cache

You may also want to make sure you are NOT using any old bookmark to https://webmail.link75.org/servlet/webacc .  You will need to delete these old GroupWise bookmarks and create new ones to http://webmail.link75.org

How do I create a Contact Group?

In either the Mail, Address Book, or Calendar tab, pull down the arrow next to "New" and select "Contact Group."

Give your Contact Group and easy to remember name and add email addresses as needed.

Click Save and you Contact Group will now be available for use.

Just type its name in the "To" or "Cc" addressing area, and all of the names in that Contact List will automatically be added to your email message (or appointment attendees).

How do I delete a contact?

Right click on the contact you want to delete (Control click, if you are a mac user). Select "Delete" from the pop-up menu. You will NOT be prompted to confirm the action.

Where did my Contacts go?

During the migration, it appears that all email contacts were placed in the "Emailed Contacts" address book (located on the left side of the Address Book tab). To move them from the "Emailed Contacts" address book to the "Contacts" address book, simply click on the first contact, hold the Shift key, click on the last contact while still holding the Shift key. All the contacts are now selected and you can drag them over to the "Contacts" address book. They will all be automatically moved out of "Emailed Contacts".

How do I share Zimbra Address Books or Calendars?

The first step is to decide if the share to the users will be "Viewers" or "Managers", Managers have the right to edit the Calendar or Address Book while viewers are read only.

(You can copy this into an email and send it to helpdesk@link75.org and we can assist you in this if you wish)

What is the address book or calendar you wish to share? Response=

What users will you share the calendar or contact list with, make a list by email address. Response=

What users will have view/edit permission (some or all) Response=

What users will have only have view permission (some or all) Response=

If all the users will have the same permission you can put them into a distribution list, than just assign the distribution list the edit/view or view only privileged.

Why do I have to use the scroll bar so much in order to view messages?

If you are see the scroll bar at the bottom of your screen and are needing to move it side to side in order to read messages, you likely have your screen resolution set to 800 x 600. This not not the recommended screen resolution for Zimbra. You should contact the Technical Leader in your bulding and have them assist you with changing your resolution to at least 1024 x 640. Or, on Windows XP, right-click your Desktop and select "Properties" and then "Settings" and move the slider to the right in order to increase the screen resolution of your monitor. On a Mac, go to System Preferences and them Displays and click on the new resolution from the list.

Why are we changing email systems?

The primary reason is because we have over half of the district using a limited version of Groupwise (the webmail version) and the other half using the original version of Groupwise. This is because of the large number of Macintosh laptops recently provided to teachers by the State. As a result, not everyone has the same features and functionality because there are limitations with the webmail version of Groupwise. The new product, Zimbra, will ensure everyone has access to the same features regardless of what type of computer you use.

Will my link75.org email address change?

No. Although the demonstration server uses a mta75.org address, the new system will still use your username@link75.org address. You will NOT have to notify anyone of an address change.

Will my existing email and contacts be transferred over?

Yes. We are confident that all of your existing email, contacts, and calendar items will be transferred over. What will NOT be transferred are any shared items (contacts, mailboxes, calendars) - these will need to be recreated.

Will my archived email messages and items be transferred over too?

No. If you have any archived emails messages, you will need to unarchive them BEFORE the migration weekend starting on July 11th.

Will we have more disk space (aka mail quota)?

Yes! We will be more than QUADRUPLING the current email quota of 100MB. Each user will have approximately 500MB of space.

Will I be able to publish or share my calendars as HTML page (i.e. viewable on the Internet with a web browser such as Internet Explorer or FireFox)?

Yes! You have multiple levels of being able to share calendars, all of which can be viewed as HTML or web pages. For those users of iCal on the Mac, a shared calendar can be easily "subscribed" to  from within the iCal application.

Can I use my PDA or cell phone to check email?

Yes! One of the great things about Zimbra is that it has excellent support for mobile devices. If your device has a web browser, Java-enbled, or is a smartphone like iPhone, it can connect to Zimbra and even syncronize your mail, contacts and calendar "over the air".
