Kindergarten Math

Page history last edited by Kate 10 years, 8 months ago

This math site is set up to provide information about our math program.  For starters you can find the materials you need for the Kindergarten Periodic Assessment.  You will also find some clips of students taking the assessment.

KD Periodic Assessment Tasks.doc  This Word document can be printed out and cut in half to make task cards to fit on a ring.  Only the first seven must be given as the district common assessment in kindergarten.  This assessment is used three times a year: September, late January and May/June.

individual profile sheet_KD.doc This Word document is for recording a student's responses. It should be used for all three assessments in order to track progress over the year.  When completed, this form should follow the student to grade one via the math folder.

computational strategies.doc  This document helps to better explain the addition strategies addressed in task 7a.

number cards.doc  Print out this document on card stock and you will have additional sets of number cards to use in the classroom.  (Tip:  use different colored card stock in order to quickly sort sets of number cards.)

Sample Assessments

Student #1 -  Below are examples of three kindergarten students taking the assessment.  Using the individual profile sheet try recording your observations while watching.  Then download the scored copy to compare your results.     student1.pdf(scored copy)

When do I give this assessment?

This assessment is given to all kindergarten students three times per year: September, January-early Feb, and late May-early June. For more information about how to administer this assessment, please refer to the Task Assessment document linked above and the Assessment Handbook.
