For questions and answers, visit the iTeam FAQ.
For the first time in history, youth across the United States used social networks, text messaging and other new technologies to help nominate and elect a new president. Last week, President Obama invited students to serve their schools and communities. Now, Mt. Ararat High School and Middle School iTeams invite you to use your interest in technologies to serve our schools and communities. Some students might choose to provide technical support in school or community labs. Others may choose to start iTeams at their elementary schools, to form video production teams to document school and community events, or to support Summer Technology Institute Inquiry Projects. If you are interested, then:

  1. Learn more about a new approach for our iTeams. Watch a video clip to see and hear how students at other schools are using project-based learning to support technology for learning. Read more details about how they are making these changes: http://www.edutopia.org/genyes. Look at the iTeams Leadership group in the district's new learning network to see how our schools and communities are collaborating to establish this program.

Embedded with tools  provided by Edutopia.org.
  2. Talk with your friends, parents, and teachers about what you see and read. Ask yourself and others: How do you use technologies to facilitate your learning? Where do you see promising practices in and out of school? How can you contribute to or lead projects that will enhance your learning. How can you help to improve learning for all students in our schools? Look at the iTeam Projects page to see some the ideas we are considering.
  3. To start, iTeams will meet one one morning each week at the high school and middle school before school for orientation, training, organization and project identification. We hope project teams will use peer mentoring and learn to manage and coordinate projects. We will expand the schedule and participation as we expand capacity.
  4. If you are interested, then apply to join by completing an online application. The form will ask for information about you and your interests. It will also ask for your ideas for promising opportunities. We will use information in the forms to select among students if more students apply than the program can currently accommodate. We will select among applicants on the basis of potential to collaborate in project teams and to develop projects that will improve learning for all students in our district.
  5. After you submit your application, we will solicit recommendations from teachers that candidates list in their applications.

For questions look at the iTeam FAQ. If you don't find an answer there, contact Mr. Spaeth, iTeam Advisor, via email at spaeths [at] link75 [dot] org or stop at the MTA 108 Computer Lab on Wednesday mornings or the MAM Computer Lab on Thursday mornings.
