EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
The four communities of M.S.A.D. No. 75 are united in our dedication to develop confident life-long learners. It is our mission to work together to ensure a community of fluent learners, critical thinkers and creative contributors to our society.
The M.S.A.D. No. 75 Board of Directors believes education is a life-long process that begins in the home, is cultivated throughout the school years, and continues throughout adult life. The Board's goal is to provide an education which will be a source of strength and satisfaction to every student throughout his life. We will pursue this goal both by developing students' skills and knowledge and stimulating their desire to learn. We intend to cultivate every student's interest in achieving academic excellence, and this intent will be bounded only by a student's ability or desire to learn and our ability to provide instruction. We believe that children learn in different ways and at different rates and that it is our responsibility to differentiate instruction to meet each student at his/her level of challenge. The Board encourages self-awareness, respect for one another, and creative and independent thinking in all members of the District's community as we pursue these goals.
Our schools, reflecting the varied interests and beliefs of faculty, students, parents, citizens and Board members, are an integral part of our communities. Communication and cooperation between the schools and the communities are essential to ensure that the needs of both are served. As part of its goals, the Board strives not only to develop the learning capacity of individual students, but also to produce valuable citizens who contribute to their community and its values.
In carrying out its educational philosophy, M.S.A.D. No. 75 will be guided by the Learning Results established by the State Legislature. M.S.A.D. No. 75 shares the State's goal that schools reflect high expectations and create an environment in which these expectations can be met. In the District, the Learning Results will serve as a foundation for student assessment in a way that ensures both accountability and equity.
The District has established an Operational Vision to guide administrators, teachers and staff as they work to carry out the District's educational philosophy. In this vision statement, the Board promotes principles of joyful learning, risk taking, collaboration, flexibility, community, high academic and behavioral expectations, and responsible decision-making as the District pursues its educational goals.
